Testing your Email

Once your email blast is designed, filled with content and ready to mail, you'll need to test it to be sure it's working properly. All email providers interpret and display html messages differently, and something that looks perfect in Yahoo or Gmail may not show up correctly in AOL or Microsoft Outlook.  The best way to assure that everything is working on all email platforms is simply test it. Send a test mailing to email accounts from various email providers and you'll see instantly if anything looks wrong or out of place. Sometimes the background or text color will be wrong, or links may not be the color you intended. Even if everything looks okay, test all of your links and navigation to ensure everything points where it's supposed to. Proofread for typos and check to make sure any contact information that's included is correct, including links to email or buttons that send short form information.

If everything looks good you're ready to send out your first email blast. Depending on the service provider you use, you will have tracking options that enable you to view the percentage of opened emails and more. Make sure you have these options enabled and don't forget to check back after a couple days to analyze your results.
