Creative Advertising
In New Zealand, creative advertising hits a new high with this innovative roadside billboard.
The billboard is plastered with an image of a young boy. Below, text reads "Rain Changes Everything, Please Drive to the Conditions." The advertisement is a seemingly normal billboard; that is untill it rains. Sensors placed on the billboard work much like those of a car whose windshield wipers turn on when detecting rain - the only difference is that instead of windshield wipers turning on, this billboard drips blood when it rains. With small holes placed strategically throughout the image, a system of pumps and small tubes feed blood (fake blood of course) through the front of the billboard, making the image appear as if the boys face is bleeding from his nose, ears and eyebrows.
A clearly ingenious idea, the billboard has gotten quite a bit of attention, and equally helped to curb dangerous driving in bad weather situations. A person rushing down the highway in bad weather will most likely think twice about how much of a hurry they're in after considering the consequences of unsafe driving. Some have called the billboard gory and grotesque, but deadly driving accidents are a reality. If anything, this is a highly effective and thought provoking advertisement that deserves any and all of the attention is recieves.
